In speaking to Mrs. MacGregor-Peralta, I was reminded of how common it can be for it to be perceived that entrepreneurs are "born"; she claimed that she has been an entrepreneur since she was 8 years old, when she first began her entrepreneurial ventures with her hamster breeding business. As an adult, Mrs. MacGregor-Peralta had a house cleaning business, then later a music and language learning franchise. She also emphasized the importance of having entrepreneurial "DNA", as she personally believed entrepreneurs are born and created. To Mrs. MacGregor-Peralta, entrepreneurs are natural problem-solvers.
I enrolled in ENT3003 because I might possibly want to pursue a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship. While I am currently a Finance major, the world of entrepreneurship and the process of creating your own business have always been attractive to me and continue to be part of my future plans. From this course I hope to gain even more access to the minds of different entrepreneurs and see how they were able to handle their failures and successes in stride, something that I believe makes a successful entrepreneur.

These stories of how entrepreneurs really are born blows my mind because of my own stories of how my Dad started his own business at 19. The challenges and risks for those who take them by themselves are lessened because they just seem to have an edge to them that makes the grind for success enjoyable. Creating something for yourself is certainly a different feeling because you know everyone else is extending the work you put down as foundation long before they came.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite the inspiring little first interaction to entrepreneurship. We can all be entrepreneurs like the CEO of Global Safety Management and its within all of us. Anyone can start something, anyone can solve the problems in day to day life. It seems like this course can give you what you want to take from it. And go for your Master’s degree, you can do it!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you were first exposed to entrepreneurship by attending the warrington alumni sessions. I have always wanted to go to one of those but always felt slightly intimidated. Your way of being introduced is one of the best since you got to talk to successful entrepreneurs and hear their best and worst stories/experiences. I also have always been interested in entrepreneurship but have been fearful of the successes and failures, so I do understand you in terms of that.
