Assignment 12A - Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Buyer Behavior Process

SEGMENT
Students in a given university classroom setting.

FINDINGS
  • For the most part, interviewees especially felt this unmet need (lack of advanced technology) when they become aware of how little they are involved in the lecture and thus the material being taught. They find themselves going on extraneous sites of leisure throughout the class lecture time, taking away time from their learning experience as a result of the lack of engagement due to the mundane and unexciting set-up of today's classrooms.
  • Students, the segment I chose to interview, felt this unmet need in the more rundown, outdated classrooms on campus. These classrooms are situated in the some of the older buildings on campus, thus reflecting a mode of learning that is simply not effective nor reflective of the academic tools available to universities that could upgrade the quality of learning within these rooms.
  • When students do feel this unmet need, they will usually look to either stop going to class altogether and therefore take away more from their learning experience, or completely drop the class altogether. This reflects badly on the courses being dropped, and emphasizes the importance of the level of engagement today's classrooms offer so that student retention remains high.

CONCLUSION
To put it succinctly, students in a given university classroom setting feel as though their sites of learning are not up-to-par with the daily technological advancements being made in order for these environments to be as engaging as possible. Students are aware of this lack; in one particular study of 500 students, it was agreed upon by a majority that classrooms are inherently lacking in the current technology available for the enhancement of today's classrooms. When presented with this need, students look to their peers and ask the famous "are you going to class" or "are you going to drop this class" as a result of feeling unfulfilled within their classes; this diminishes the value of the courses, all because of very easily-changeable issue that plagues most universities.
